San Martín de los Andes

We can find San Martin de Los Andes hidden between old forests and mountains of the Lanin National Park of los Andes, it joins in the same countryside the most different activities from the beaches, like if you were in one: the sun and the practice of windsurf are the newest alternatives for the tourism of adventure. It is good not only to its habitants but also to its tourists a privileged quality of life.
It was founded the fourth of February 1898, on the coast of the Lacar Lake and today it is the most importante touristic center in Neuquén ´s province.
The Lacar Lake, surrounded by pellin oak tree, lenga, coihues and nires, is a terrific frame for the practice of nautical sports and for the lovers of vertigo, the Hum Hua River offers the possibility of going down in rafting.
The Calefu, Quilquihue and Hermoso River are some examples of the most visited places where the lovers of fishing can practice all day long in all its different possibilities. The spices existing in the place are brown trout, rainbow and fontanels or of stream. The last one has a great sport value.

Its architectonic characteristics and a good combination of services, and customs like: hotels, small houses, huts, apart hotels, inns, restaurants, tea houses and commercial centers mix excellent with the natural environment giving it a classical landscape of a mountain village.
It has got many and different beauties. Hills, lakes, animals, cascades, natural slopes of mineralize water, rupestrian paintings and ancient forests are at hand for the tourist to be visited by car, mountain bike, by horse or simply on foot.

In winter, a good place to go is Chapelco Hill wich is a synonym of winter sports, for couples, families and friends, while in summer it offers the tipical landscape of a movie with little paths to discover riding a horse, a bike or practicing archery and driving range.
