Rio Gallegos
Río Gallegos, capital of Santa Cruz Province, has a population of 75,000 inhabitants, and is also the starting-point for tourist activities in the area. It s culture is very important. You can visit places such as museums, handicraft shops and art exhibitions, and sail along a cold water estuary, to see the ports and seabirds and animals. Outside the city, you can choose among the hospitality of the Estancias open to tourism nearby, a trip to the remarkable volcanic landscape of Laguna Azul, or an excursion to Cabo Vírgenes, one of the largest nesting colonies of penguins in South America, that shelters, from October to April, more than 150,000 Magellanic penguins.
